Monday, March 24, 2014 - [mad monday.]
Hurray I've finished one assignment, only 20more to go. no big deal ~
It's my film diary part A, part B is the next assignment :o so if you're curious at all, it's on my Production Diary Tumblr, and the link's available in the sidebar and "The Verdict" section :3
Been a not so nice start to the week actually ):
Friday was a great day. After my lecture, I finally returned Lachlan his Galaxy S2 which he so kindly lent me for about a year <s>because I dropped my pink S2 into the toilet at Queen's Karaoke.</s> So smooth ayesha. Cried about it like a baby and the next day he drove over to pass me a spare phone. :') thankyou~
Got very attached to the S2 but had to return it, it's okay, far more attached to the new Note 3 now :DD Anyways, after that, met the incapable-of-remembering-directions-except-in-malls Steph and we took Zac's car to Chermside~ Supposedly got my MacBook repaired. Supposedly.
It wasn't fixed at all. It froze again over the weekend yippee. Hoping Carindale Geniuses do a better job this Wednesday. I actually hate blogging from anywhere else except my Macbook. Anyhoo, did abit of shopping at Chermside :3 No pictures yet .. soooooooooon. Zac bought a couple Xbox games, I got 2 new dresses and a cap ~ We also bought new bedsheets. Egyptian cotton - 1200 thread count yeeeeaaaaaa, cause somehow the other bedsheets are either badly stained or torn in the corner. I don't even know how. The corners are tucked under the mattress yet they have holes here and there. Hopefully 200dorra sheets are more sturdy than that.
GAH . It's going to be a hectic week. 3 assignments are due in the next week and I'm occupied this weekend cuz not only is it me and Zac's 1year anniversary, there's a Super Smash Brothers tourney I'm supposed to play in XD and also Zac's father's 60th birthday dinner will be held this weekend. Waaaooowww. How to assignment?
Today I found out one of the assignments I thought was ages away is due next week, so my mood became horribly low the rest of the day. Came home feeling awfully hungry, well yeahh, no food all day til I cooked dinner which took almost 2hours of cleaning the kitchen, prepping, cleaning while cooking, finally got to eat at 10.30pm .
Cooking sure feels like a workout, was sweating profusely beside the steaming pots ricecooker, rinsing out crockery with hot water and crying from onions. What a horrible 2hours I had when I usually hum to myself or have imaginary conversations and start laughing to myself while cooking. Weather plz, its time for Winter, making me "work-out" while I prepare a meal is just mean ):

Sunday, January 12, 2014 - [Daddy's Cooking Lesson #1]
OHMYGEE, the timer is finally in it's thirties! YAYAYA ! :3
Lesson 1: Lamb Chops. (but .. in gravy) ( did you know the colour orange makes you hungry ? If you're gonna open a restaurant, paint the walls orange or have some orange lights for example .. The Food Junction foodcourt at Bishan )
Step 1: The rice was magically cooked when I get to the kitchen with fried onions and coloring already in it. Damn.
Step 2: Boil the meat in the Pressure Cooker for a few minutes and leave about 20minutes for the air to escape, otherwise prepare for face explosion.
Step 3: Drain away the water and rinse your pressure cooker and fry Red Onions until they're brown and add 1tablespoon of minced ginger and garlic each.
Step 4: Add these Indian spices, no idea what they're called, just bring this picture to an Indian Spice store I suppose. ( DO NOT EAT THIS, IT TASTES HORRIBLE BUT GIVES MAGNIFICENT FLAVOUR. I REPEAT. DO NOT EAT THIS. I've accidentally eaten them far too many times. .______. *hurls* )
*Caution: Make sure this is added after frying the Red Onions 'til they're brown because apparently these spices get burnt if added too early.
Step 5: Add blended red onions to thicken the gravy. He added about 3 large Tablespoons of this [ Godammit why are all my pictures blur ]
It may not look like it but that's the 3 tablespoons of blended onions, the 1 tablespoon of minced ginger and and minced garlic is buried beneath the onions. ( Note: For all Indian cooking, only use Red Onions )
Step 6: Add in the meat, add in the Meat Paste ( ?? it was just in a jar so I have no idea what this actually is ) and add a pinch of chilli powder and stir to mix well.
Step 7: Add about 2cups of water or however much you like really and cover the pressure cooker and let it whistle for about 3minutes. Leave for 30minutes to cooldown before serving!
I suppose I have to hunt for stuff in the Indian Spice shop and acquire a Pressure Cooker and some courage before I can cook this away from home .. D:
Most unfortunate that Indian food does not look all that appealing but I was very pleasantly surprised by the strong taste of this lamb chop curry, I definitely wanna make it again !
Lesson 2: Machurian Stir-Fry Chicken ( This is far too easy to be a lesson )
Step 1: Once again, the rice was magically cooked before I got to the kitchen. But just use a rice cooker or boil rice if you have the time to stir and ensure it doesn't burn.
Step 2: Stir the onions in oil for a couple minutes and add in the meat
Step 3: Make sure the chicken pieces are white on both sides before adding in the Manchurian Spice Packet
it's like a powdery thing, not a paste, so you have add water later
Step 4: Add capsicum and wataaaaaaa, season with salt and it's done. It's very simple but it's really tasty actually. Apparently the paste is only available at Mustafa Shopping Centre, sooooo... I'll just ask Dad to get it :3
Stay tuned for more lessons. Going to learn to make Sambal Chicken from Rena my helper and my dad's proudest Chicken Curry dish. ( which is very very different from the one I make Zac :o it tastes NOTHING like the one I cook, it tastes more like the Indian takeaway stuff )

Saturday, January 04, 2014 - [Feeling Alive ! :D ]
My fingers are stinging and burning. I don't know whyyyyyy TT . Was it really from chopping chilli? Or did I burn them, I can't even tell what feeling this is. It's radiating heat and stinging from several spots on both hands. Pressing on the spots does not hurt so I guess it's not a burn.
My tummy is still unwell today. WHYYYYY ._. it doesn't like Singapore anymore.
): pains here and there. I got up so early today, probably 'cause I was subconsciously so excited to cook for my family. Not the first time, but the first time in like ... 4-5 years probably.
Was texting Zac early in the morning anticipating that my stepmom would not eat my food.
Do you think my prediction was right?
OF COURSE IT WAS! -________- that heartless woman.
BUT WHO CARES. MY FATHER, BROTHER SISTER AND HELPER ALL LIKED MY FOOD, THAT'S GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME. I DON'T CARE ABOUT YOU BBBEEEEECCCHHHH. Also I had cooked with proper Black Beans rather than the bottled paste version in Brizzy, my god it tastes 20x better than usual. I shall source for black beans when I'm back :DD *so much happier cooking for zac because he is non-asian XD*
Was so awkward cooking in such a tiny kitchen and there's only 1 chopping board 1 knife, no peeler?! But we have tonnes of pots pans bowls and thank heavens a very good rice cooker which didn't leave half of the rice burnt and stuck to the bottom .
I guess 'cause I slept about 6 hours only I was tired again after lunch :3 NAAAAPPPPPPPP
Got up at 5pm and completely forgot I had to go out to meet Dinnie!
Prepared speedily and we went to catch Frozen ! (again for me, but she hasn't seen it) My god, it's even nicer to watch the second time and how .. how did the movie affect me even more when I already know what's going to happen?
Such a teary scene :')
Had awesome chicken rice for dinnnerrrrr !!! The one at AMK hub is truly the best ever ! the conversation I had with the owner was rather strange. Ordered the food in Chinese, the one serving me asked if I needed extra bowls in English, I said no in Chinese and paid the first man and asked for change in Chinese and the first man said to the other in Chinese "She speaks Chinese!" umm yeaaa... ? Then he responded to me in English. O_O. Some people are so cute.
I guess the habit of smiling and greeting has grown on me. For the FIRST TIME EVER IN MY 21 YEARS, one of the ladies selling drinks and wiping the tables actually asked how was my meal ! My god. People at hawker centres always seem to be in a hurry and if you're not buying anything they're not interested in you. :o
Some part of me has changed greatly (:
Because I'm using a prepaid card, I've been conserving my data by turning off the data every time I'm alone. So I had a nice 20minute bus ride home just thinking of things I want to do ^-^ Meanwhile every one ever is glued to their phones and tablets. Going out today has made me suddenly feel alive. I really cannot be confined at home. Sorry daddddddddddddd. :3Labels: black beans, cooking, family lunch, feeling alive, frozen, sisterly love, stinging

Sunday, October 14, 2012 - [plan for SG.]
it is 1am, and I am well aware that I have a day at QUT news in the morning starting from 8am til 4pm and I will be sorely regretting not sleeping right now, but I really can't. It seems my posts are getting really depressing. what has happened to me?
The more I think about it, the less I look
forward to home. Singapore only means more problems. Perhaps the peace
and emptiness of Australia is actually better than fleeting happiness,
unnecessary drama and torment back home.
Being here, I'm in a state of zen-ness, besides money I hardly have much to worry. Of course I fret over schoolwork sometimes, but I manage to get by thankfully. I have alot of time to do alot of other useful things sadly, it's the money. I sorely want to go for dance classes but can't afford it, there's also facilities to learn horse-riding which can't be done at home and it's all about the money money money.
I wish I had a lot of money, who doesn't?
These days I just keep thinking of the how the days will be in Singapore. Originally I couldn't wait to go home. Now I'm just.. floating along with life. Sure, I won't fear being cold or foodless, I won't have to worry about laundry for 3 months. I won't have to pay for internet either.
But I have to force myself to be with my stepmother, and her superficiality .. I have a strict curfew which makes me very unwilling to go anywhere at all.. I would like to work, but I also wouldn't because work is tiring and it's my holiday I should be enjoying but I know at this moment that I won't be.
I'm not being pessimistic on purpose, I know very well how life will turn out to be. I thought I would be happy, I have my old friends, and my new friends here going home. I thought I could go back for dance classes, I thought I could have happy sleepovers and a happy reunion with my classmates.
None of that will happen, because firstly I am ill.
Secondly my dad has thrown me that curfew and I'm pretty sure he won't give me allowance in SG so I won't be able to go out actually because.. well you need money to go anywhere.
I know my two lovely friends will be busy with school and another very devoted to her boyfriend so she will mostly be unavailable. My own boy is too, very busy and usually tense and I do feel it is better to leave him alone than face his tempers when something goes wrong.
So I've thought of an alternative. I will resume exercising because I will have a free pool at my house, and I will go to a gym to run. I do hope my father will fund me to go for cooking class because I do not wish to exceed curfew and incur his wrath. I will ask nicely and hope he is willing to pay for it. I believe the chances of him saying yes is about 20% at the moment. If he doesn't agree I will have to buy my own ingredients and download recipes and make a mess of the kitchen and waste alot more money buying ingredients, maybe he will change his mind then.
I know it sounds evil, but I fully intend to be uncooperative and very quiet when I go home. Oh yes, I will play the piano too why not. Just make some noise and exercise my fingers. So holiday in SG
1. hospital
2. cooking
3. swimming and gym
4. piano
what next..
we have a lovely BBQ pit, but I know my father dislikes my friends so I shan't invite them, why cause trouble to myself.
Hopefully my treatment goes well and I won't be sick anymore, in 2013 2014 and 2015 I won't have a reason to go home anymore. I think I sound like someone who's given up on life, but it's fine. I hope my parents are happy, knowing I'm unhappy and wasting my life away.
In a better world,
my dad will not give me a curfew, my dad will permit cooking classes, my dad will not pressure me to work, my dad will also not pressure me to interact with my stepmom, my dad will stop being racist and accept my chinese friends.
in a better world,
the people of Australia will be kind and give me a job because i genuinely want to and am very free and would love to work here.
in a better world,
I will not be sick so I don't have to worry and suffer these few months.
The world will probably not get better, but what can I do? I'm just another pawn in God's game. I really want to die and meet him and ask why I was given such a life. A life that I find most challenging, yet some might envy, and definitely some who look down on. Labels: better world, cooking, curfew, depressed, gym, home, money, sick, stepmother
