Herrow there, I didn't intend for this to become a food post at all but I just uploaded all my pictures and realized... it kinda is .. but the focus isn't on the food :p
Friday Night. I was supposed to meet Eeling my dearest friend who I rarely see at Marina Bay to see the Gardens because I've not been there yet, even though it's been open over a year, why is it even called a garden when everything is artificial. Should be Plastic Space paid by Singaporean's taxes because the government can.
Well I'm not too sure but I think the Flower Dome has real plants. I'll have to see it .. some other day. So I cancelled my plans with Eel because I heard Dad had the day off and I might spend some time with him. We did the grocery shopping from the previous post and also I got a new pair of Blue Rayban spectacles made (: $380 haggled from $460. yay.
Such pretty. Much brand. Wow.
I guess you'd think I'm excessive, until you find out my dad has three pairs of spectacles for a silly 100degree or less myopia and each pair is about $800 because Georgio Armani and etc. He even looked at a 4th pair while we were there and the frame itself was $400. I honestly wanted a superior pair of lenses from Hoya but .. $360 just for the lenses because Astigmatism lvl over 300. T_____T .
Sigh. Why am I so blind? I feel I've reduced my staring at screens time significantly since teenagehood but it's not helping ._. If I go completely blind, I'll go live with Dengyin and we can live in blindness together with her blind pup Igo.
Then I found out from Dengz that she was meeting CheeHooi and Kexin, my lovely buddies from school. And I knew Cheechee had just came back from Europe so I really wanted to see her. Anyway I haven't caught up with them in 2 years. So I begged and begged and managed to get permission to go out at night for dinner with them and also to stayover because . Jurong = 1.5hour journey home = my mind will be far too occupied thinking about travelling back home than enjoying myself there.
I was so happy I could cry.
Left house early to meet Dengz so I could surprise chee and kx :DD It was my first time in probably 5years returning to Jurong East area and I was very very overwhelmed by the sheer amount of people. It's just like going to town! @@" 3malls and 3extra train tracks and platforms appeared in my absence in a place that only had one 2-storey mall. Jeeezus christ and even more things are being built there.
We had dinner at a Japanese restaurant called "Watami" in Jcube. YEAAAA I've finally been to Jcube now! We ordered a dinner set for 2 which was more than enough to feed the four of us ~ :3 It had 4 main dishes and a side dish and 2 large drinks for $59. Very wurrrfffffff.
There was the chicken hotpot, which came with the little gas stove and we thought for a sec... how is this thing going to cook.
Special Secret Hidden Soup ! That's how.
Sooooo deelish, *salivating*
I don't remember the name or the sauce of this Salmon but it's the best Salmon I've ever eaten in my lifeeeeeeee and I've already tried all kinds of Salmon in Hokkaido @@ It's like jizzing in your mouth really.
I didn't touch this salad at all, I believe it had bacon in it. Croutons look yummy tho !
A little dish of fries ... ? Okay.jpeg Not sure why this is in the set of Japanese food but it was still yummmm ~
Also didn't eat this dish because it was fried pork, but it also looks so tastyyyyy @@
There was a large bowl of Beef and rice and corns which was superb but somehow.. every one forgot to take a picture of that one so ): But I probably ate the most of that dish out of everything. The final dish is this Spicy Chicken cutlets. No idea how I forgot to eat this when it was right in front of me the entire time. Was too busy with the beef, salmon and hotpot XD
KX calls this the unphotogenic dish.
Our dinner was very lovely but it was not just the food. The company was really really great. It was so nice catching up with them, talking about our various travels, Cheechee in Europe and the thrills of the French Alps. KX was in Taiwan and also talked about Australia, Dengz also just came back from Shanghai a few days after I returned, so everyone had stories to tell !
Also regular little gossipy stuff and relationship questions and comparisons :p It was all very heartwarming and I really felt so glad to be there. I can't even explain how happy I was to be let out late at night like old times and see them again. Being restricted by curfew is really sickening especially when I never ever had a curfew when I was young and I was out past midnight every day for a couple years.
First picture L-R: Chee Hooi, Ke Xin, Deng Yin and me! (:
Went upstairs to search for a dessert shop called Nana's Green Tea Story because they wanted to drink some maccha or matcha. Google said the shop had closed down so we made do with a dessert shop called "Eat at Taipei" beside the rink!
I was very certain I would spot my ex at the rink because he and his friends love ice-skating and they've waited years for the rink to re-open because they all live around the area ( like I used to until I got torn away from everyone in the West and send into isolation in the Northeast. Til this day, 8 years after I left the West, 90% of the people in SG I know live there , although the remaining 10% all passionately hate the West XD )
Mango and Strawberry shaved ice anyone?
Far too cold for my teeth to take but I had a few tiny mouths and it was heavenly (: Chee and I used to have desserts all the time after school or between supplementary classes at Jurong Point. Ugh those were the days!
Layers of ice that melt in your mouth + thick strawberry syrup and very fresh strawberries
My favourite thing tho, was those little juice balls that explode in your mouth.
CheeHooi : Euw. It's like eating a pimple ! TRUUUUU XD
but it left a nice sensation in your mouth
Fong, the superman (: if anyone remembers me writing about him in the past came to say hello from the rink. My my my is he a buff fella now and got his lasik done too. Sweet. Very very sexxyyyy but still looks broken inside, I wonder why. I wasn't surprised to see him because I KNEW IT. THE SKATERS WERE THERE. So was my ex but I avoided him :x
Me and Fong have a very unusual relationship and there were so many rough times in the past, so glad it's all over and we're good friends now ^-^ ! He's a valuable person. So chatted for a couple minutes and went back to the girls who were now sharing about failed relationships and disgusting boys XD Then the topic became more delicate because sexxxxx. I just thought to myself for those 4precious hours with them how much we've grown and how fast time flies :3 Also very happy to see everyone changing and maturing and really I liked the fact that we all travel and we all get to see the world and we know how to appreciate things now.
We parted at about 10.30pm and I headed over to Dengz's place for .. ba dum tsss.... overnight mahjong seshhhh XD Weiyang the sheep took a cab from Malaysia because he was stranded there ( the story was quite hilarious ) and managed to join us. Ohwell he made it all back by winning $100 from us. Well Done~ Mahjong is mahjong. It's fun, it's indescribable to people who don't play it often or don't have years of experience in it with a group of friends who have played together many many many times. (:
Sheep and I left at about 6.45am because he had to plans for the day. I simply went home to sleep or try to with my sister banging the piano for a couple hours and when it finally stopped I thought I could sleep but ... a while later her piano teacher arrived. GOODNESSSSSS ...
At least bro bought me Salmon Sushi when I got up at 5pm yay!
I've also learn to cut a Pomelo today! But I'll leave that for tomorrow's post (: Labels: dessert, dinner set, eat at taipei, gardens by the bay, girls, hotpot, japanese, jcube, night out, relationships, reunion, rink, shaved ice, skaters, watami
