Sunday, December 14, 2014 - [LONDON 2014 Day 1 ! ]
13Dec - Saturday
Hi there, at this very moment, it is 4pm on Saturday in London, which is midnight exactly in Singapore, which would be 2am in Brisbane on Sunday.
What a day it’s been!
I’m distressed at the moment because the Wi-Fi has magically stopped working in the Hamid house — by the way my family’s come to stay at our relative Uncle Jafar’s house while wife and my two lovely cousins are on holiday to KL, Borneo and Phuket.
So the flight was pretty good, some good looking guys on the flight to Dubai :33 it was really nice flying on an A380 because its really huge and had more space than a usual plane. That being said, Economy is still uncomfortable for long flights. I could see the cockpit and I was right beside the stairs leading up the Business and First Class, so that was exciting. The A380 even has a “cloak room” to keep our coats straight until just before disembarking.

7 hours later we arrived at Dubai and had a 2hour stopover where Alisha and I ate. After watching the movie “Chef” I’ve been inspired to make my own little 1secEveryday movie, so .. watch out for that.
The second flight didn’t have any dashing stewards so I slept the entire way. There was however this guy beside me who kept calling the stewards to get at upgrade to business or first class claiming he had sufficient frequent flyer points. He was making a fuss about how he has ‘sleep apnoea’ which I would google right this moment if the internet was working .. He said he needed to have a proper rest or he would burst or something ..
In the end he didn’t get the upgrade.
(Internet is back!) A quick google just told me that it means his airways can collapse for over 10seconds blocking airflow to his heart, wtf he'll die ? Why didn't he just buy a Business Class ticket in the first place?
Got to London safely, tho there was a computer malfunction I heard so about 200 flights have been delayed, again I would read about it but I can’t at the moment.
Uncle Jafar hired a car for us so off we went to 103 Green Lane.
~~
We arrived at their house at about 8am and everyone was still asleep pretty much and slowly waking up because we were there. Then they were in a flurry of last minute packing for their trip.
It was awesome seeing Safia and Zaid again, my dear cousins that I haven’t seen in a decade. I had been to the house once, some parts have changed. It was in this house, 10 and a half years ago (because my first time in London was during Summer) that Zaid had taught me what MSN was and he became my first contact C:
memories…
We had a lovely breakfast with Afghan bread, minced beef, chicken curry, lemon pie and profiteroles. Oh how ‘white’ I’ve become, my family had no idea what profiteroles are heheheh .

We went out to the backyard to enjoy some -5degree chill for about 30seconds and ducked back into the house. We talked, we laughed, we watched tele, we played games, we tried to pet the cat Mia, who’s obviously confused and scared about the sudden noise and company.
Here's some old toys we were playing with :33
And this is Mia, the fat tabby cat C:
It’s a pity that we didn’t get more time together, the other Hamid family left at 1pm for their holiday and the house became quiet suddenly.
Everyone took a nap, I thought it’d be best to take a short one and get up and go out somewhere hence why I’m typing right now because I got overruled and everyone else is still asleep.
Good luck sleeping tonight guys. I shall be the only one blissfully sleeping then.
The internet stopped working when they left.. I’m not sure why, the Wi-Fi has connected and it says signal strong with 5 bars lit up on my screen and my phone yet nothing’s loaded.. Obviously no one can read this right now .. but I just like writing in detail..
I’m quite afraid of turning off the router and turning it back on, given my history with technology .. it’d probably explode in my face.. but still.. I want it work.. so here goes ..
Well… just waiting for my devices to detect the home wifi … it’s really dark here already by the way, it’s just 4.16pm but it feels like 7pm. The house is so silent.. there’s only the sound of a ticking clock and my tapping of keys..
OMG the internet is working, yay me! Time to publish this post then!
Oh haayyy family's awake, alrighty here's a picture of London at 4.36pm.
Okok .. heres' the pictures of the house I know you're all dying to see ~
(PS: please forgive, I don't have the time or energy to edit pictures so .. they're gonna be mostly non-filtered and stuff XD
Let's start from the 3rd floor and walk our way down. Some rooms are closed, so this isn't the whole house ahaha.
This is the room I'm currently sitting and blogging in, also gonna be the room I spend most time in, on the top floor. It's the warmest room too.
Did you notice that the clock is backwards and the hands go anticlockwise. YEAAA zoom in on that shit.
Kitty's corner.
Oh wow, look at that 1pm versus the 4.36pm I just took.
Safia's room C: Safia is an amazing person by the way, she's an Echo-Cardiologist, so she reads scans of patients' hearts and diagnoses what's wrong and sends all the info to doctors so they can operate. Neat huh! I used to sleep in this room, a decade ago, the bed was in the middle of the room back then..
Zaid's room. Zaid is a cool guy too, he gets invited to Lamborghini and Ferrari and other expensive car showrooms because he's been taking photos for a few years and seems to have become quite reputable. Check him out on Facebook: Zaid Hamid Photography. I was gonna go with him on a photoshoot but ))): .. bad timing.
This is the guest room where mom and dad are sleeping in hehehehe :3
Huge mirror on the wardrobe and a view of the backyard! C: we used to play cricket there, and Zaid's mom threw the cricket ball with all her might from the master bedroom (later you'll see) and it hit him in the eye XD !!
Master bedroom ensuite, Alisha and I get this room! YEAAAA, mainly because the bathroom tiles are heated and Mia loves to curl up there to sleep and dad's scared of cats.
Guest Bathroom, also huge.
First floor TV room.
The "For-show-only-no-one-ever-goes-in" room
KITCHEN! Pretty sure we'll whip up a roast on Xmas C:
Okie that's all for today, here's fat Mia on the heated tiles!

Thursday, November 27, 2014 - [Back to home! :3 ]
It's been a year since I came home ~ I think alot has changed within my family since then. For example, my brother is recently engaged, my sister will be starting new classes next year, not sure about my parents, maybe a new car or something soon?
Every time I fly out from anywhere besides Singapore I always wonder what is it that makes Changi airport so superior in terms of service. I don't get how Changi can operate super fast and others can't. It took me 20minutes to check in my luggage but 30seconds to get out of immigration at home.
Anyhoooo, I managed to pack 21kg of stuff, so I have 9kg of extras I can bring back so that's good. It was annoying having to pack stuff for hot SG weather and the cooold London weather. It's even more stupid 'cause I came home and dad said "oh, you didn't have to bring this stuff, cause you can borrow Saf's."
(We're going to stay at our relative's place in London because when we arrive there, they're off to KL and Phuket :o)
The flight was pretty turbulent and had bad food ): Sadddd.. there were also three kids a couple rows infront of me and boy one wouldn't stop going "mommy this mommy that" another was singing really loudly and the third kept crying every few minutes. On the plus side I was 4th row from the front so I could disembark really quickly. I hate flying.
Saw "The Other Woman" on the flight back, it was really funny, a different kind of chick flick. I recently watched "Tammy" which was a really stupid show, but this one was so much funnier C:
So I arrived, my sister was jumping up and down greeting me as usual. She kept calling me "Bubee" I have no idea why, it's irritating me. She just said it nonstop in the car "Bubbeee, Bubeeeeeee, BAAABBEEEEEE" and every sentence she randomly chucks this word in.
So I've been told I have to bring her to movies, go to see some museum with her and her friends? We're also going to see a football match here in SG and in London (D: why ...) Not sure whether I'm going to meet my mom after she went batshit crazy on me.
I got home and 2 seconds later my brother came back from work and my sister immediately screamed "IT'S BUBBEEEE, LOOK AT BUBEEEEEEE!" oh god. I could barely he talk to him, he just ran up the stairs and into his room and started playing Dota O_O . K bro, not like I missed you over the year I've been gone. Guess we'll catch up over the weekend (after I finish the museum and football game D:)
We started watching Harry Potter because I want to make my sister excited about visiting the studio in London ~ really not sure if she understands the movie at all .. .. I had to sleep on the floor yesterday which I usually like, but not yesterday because there wasn't a proper mattress! It was just a thin .. cloth, like a carpet but .. so thin and it just hurt my back and bones lying there.
My sister's tamagotchi was also ringing every hour because it was hungry ._. I just mashed all the buttons in the dark but it still rang again an hour later.
I was "saved" by my helper knocking on the door to bring my sister down for her piano class. So I got my bed back but I also had to listen to her banging the keys wildly. T_______T. I sound like a bitchy elder sister but she really is very active and noisy.
So after all that she came back to my room and started listening to my ipad and singing really loudly, while I was still trying to sleep. I gave up and went downstairs for lunch. My helper filled me in on all her naughty antics like leaving fingerprints on the piano and sliding doors she just cleaned, she was dropping food on the table and floor intentionally, refusing to do any of her homework and lying to our parents.
Gosh.
I was looking at her homework (school's out so her homework is literally extra stuff my parents make her do which is very normal here in SG but completely nonexistent in Bris O_O) My sister already has piles of assessment books which are mostly empty.. because she refuses to do them. One of them is a composition book with model answers .. and all she's meant to do is copy out each story. [I don't know what school is like in other countries, but here in primary school, kids get a series of 4 pictures and they have to write a story or essay or composition as we call it about the events in the pictures] Even that she made spelling mistakes, missed out paragraphs .. it's just so slipshod I don't understand what goes through her brain.
Okay that's all for now. Bye! Labels: family, home, plans, sister

Tuesday, January 14, 2014 - [Family Weekend Times :D]
HEERRROOWWWW.. today's post is going to be very very long, so brace yourself *inserts Ned Stark meme* First of all I want to mention something silly. Recently, umm.. the past week and this week, people have suddenly been talking to me on Facebook. "Hey! Glad you update your blog so regularly!" "Hey! I read your posts" "Your blog is really cool! Do you spend alot of time on it?" etc etc. I'm very happy and flattered to have loyal readers.
AND THEN.
They ask "So where are you now?" "Are you Singapore now" "Do you have time to catch-up?" "What have you been doing recently?"
Okay not to be rude to my readers, but whuuuuut?? You say you read it, you like reading it, you notice I have been updating but you DON'T know that I'm home? you DON'T know what I've been up to recently despite all my posts about family? About missing Australia?
So I don't know if you're just using my blog as an excuse to start a conversation with me after not contacting me for years .. or you're acting dumb... or I don't know. Enlighten me? I really don't mean to be rude but you guys are confusing me.
NAO, we begin on Sateeeday. Was very excited because Daddy said we'd go to the park to skatee wooohooooo, I was so excited all day and then this happened . . .
): So we turned away from the park and went to drive down the new $4.3Billion Marina Coastal Expressway which goes under the sea ! I don't really know much about driving, but this is a 5-lane tunnel, Daddy who has been all over the world said he's never been in such a huge tunnel before. Must be fun to drive in (:
ZOOOOOOM. At least this one had speed limits put in. When the KPE tunnel opened there were no speed limits imposed yet and the police clocked up to 240km per hour ! WOOOOOO . Anyway, because it was a Saturday, my brother had his somersault classes and didn't want to miss them so he wasn't with us and we decided to head to Dempsey Hill for one of our family's favourite restaurants - Samy's Curry. Not to be biased as an Indian, but this is really really really really really really good Indian food, and it's a pricey location but the food isn't that pricey if you consider the other high-end restaurants around the area.
Firstly you eat on fresh Banana Leaves (: so fragrant! And also, Indians believe eating with their fingers is the yummiest way to go and the food tastes different. Speaking from experience, yes it does! It's also actually alot more enjoyable eating with your fingers than utensils ^-^ The waiters come with a large bowl of rice and two little bowls of potato curry and daal (some gravy thing I don't really like) to start.
They also have another two bowls of starters which is usually mild chicken curry and cucumber salad. But I believe this has been taken off their menu but Daddy's so popular over here, they actually specially made the cucumber salad for us ! :DD yayyyy !
Although their menu is pretty big, my family only ever comes here because of the Fish-Head Curry, so this cost $20 and it was the most expensive thing we ordered. ( See, this place isn't a mega rip-off like all the other restaurants in Dempsey )
This is usually quite spicy but I just love it too much I have to keep eating even if get a running nose and start sweating and tearing, I WILL STILL EAT IT ALL !!!! GRRRR
This is Chicken 65 I think, or Chicken Tikka, my stepmom was so silly and ordered Chicken 69 :P .. awkward.
There were some other dishes but these two are the main ones we always always order (:
Fold your leaves in half when you're done (:
We walked around after looking at expensive stuff .. sister bought a scoop of Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream and it was $6.90 . niiiiceeeee.... we went to the expensive Swiss Butcher ( but everything was labelled "Imported from Australia" HAH! ) and I saw this very pricey Nutella ): So you can imagine how pricey everything else is in there.
Some how .. I must be abit blind, the photos look clear on my phone. Im sorreh.
Continued walking to furniture stores, looking at Lambos and Aston Martins and other expensive toys and we came to the Parrots outside some Thai restaurant. I never knew that they could hold their own food in their little claws to eat. [ Fun Fact: If an animal can hold it's own food, it's haram, that means, Muslims can't eat them. Therefore Muslims cannot eat parrots or squirrels but can eat Chickens Cows etc ] Then you're gonna ask me why I can't eat Pork and I'm too lazy to write that out now
This clever fella could say Hello and Byebye! It was my first time hearing a bird talk. It was so magical .... XD
Here's some random pictures of my dad's car, because he wants a nice flashy sports car like every man ever, but I told him I really like his car because I love BMW headlights and his car is big and comfy and it has a huge boot which is so useful, after all we have about 3sets of Golf Clubs or like carrying my sister's bicycle to the park, or my millions of luggages whenever I travel. Even tho he smiled at what I said, I know in a couple years this car will be gone like every car we've had.
Oh my my, I'm done with Saturday ! Actually we did come home to play some Board Games but I have accidentally deleted the pictures from my phone and I'm far too lazy to open up the game and snap some pictures but the game is called UBONGO! So if any of you worked at a Board Game Cafe like I did or you went to one before you might know the game. It's really easy and sorta IQ-training kinda game (:
I'm am so sleepy right now, I'm going to speed through the rest X_X
Sunday! We had a great family dayyy, my stepmom was actually pretty nice to me this weekend but okay she's abit quiet and ignoring me again today. So anyways we had a little movie sesh in the afternoon. Barfi !
Okay firstly it's a Bollywood film, which my family likes, I do like Bollywood films (: I would not realllly recommend this show, unlike "3 Idiots" or "Delhi Belly" because this show progresses so much slower or maybe because I was feeling sleepy and it's a very quiet film. As in not much dialogue because the main character is deaf and a mute. The other main character is Autistic. So you can imagine how .. strange this movie is. I haven't finished it yet but I didn't really enjoy it as much as other Bollywood films. Now if you're really into Indian films, ask me! I know so many of them, and I know all the good ones (:
At 5pm, we decided to go out because the weather was so much more pleasant than the day before so YOLO time. Grabbed my skates and socks and off to East Coast Park we go ! It's been 2 years since I last wore them!
Here's some old pictures of me when I was very comfortable in skates :3
It did rain in the morning, so the ground as abit wet and sky was cloudy but it was nice and windy and coooling (:
This is like one-fifth of ECP, somehow Google doesn't have a full map. Ohwell. So it's about 20km of nice straight skating path. Maybe longer. I really don't know, Singapore is always expanding every thing. OH IT'S MIDNIGHT IN AUSTRALIA.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ZAC !! :DDDDD !!! ♥
Back to ECP.
Went to the Jetty for some new cooling breeeeeze and to look at people fishing ~ ( The red part of the jetty is so uneven and wobbly to skate on D: )
I really want to try one of these cycle-carts but they go at an infuriatingly slow speed!
Skated back off the jetty and almost died getting through all these nuts on the ground. They just kept getting caught between the wheels and made me trip a gazziilliiionnnn times. UGH . My encouraging little sister said "Don't worry! Jiejie is brave! She won't fall!"
My first obstacle came, I know you can't tell but there's actually a slope here with those stupid speed controller things .. like this only on the descending side of the slop ._____.
It feels like nothing driving cycling or walking over but it makes a hell of a difference when you're in skates.
I survived!
and survived a second slope :DD "Jiejie take a deep breath and bend your knees!
You won't fall!"
Skated past the Outward Bound Campus :D Outward Bound is such a fun thing.
Everyone should do it once in their lives (:
And then... I was skating back after an hour and a half of rolling around. My sister was really tired from cycling so she got off and handed her bike to my dad to wheel and she wanted to hold my hand and walk while I slowly rolled beside her. So okay.. I skated as close as I could to the pedestrian side and I stopped to take a photo of the people doing stunts .
Remembering the day I actually tried to roll down this and fell and almost died XD
Unfortunately, as I took this photo, a little boy named Dalton or Delton decided to skate pretty fast with his head down and collided into me making me fall on my left arm. Seriously I felt like a bowling pin . Amazingly he didn't fall and managed to continue on and I think he didn't even notice he had knocked me over until his instructor yelled at him and forced him to apologize to me. He still looked very dazed after being scolded and skated in the wrong direction from his class of little skaters.
Well I wasn't in much pain from that fall but now ... now I really am. Jeezus, my left arm has been so weak and useless all day yesterday and today. T__T . 48hours of pain.
At least I was very near the car so I could remove my skates and get back into my comfy slippers and it's dinner time . YAYYYY ! ECP has this really big food court and it looks nice and clean and organized now!
Okay this is probably my favourite place in SG to eat so happy to come here after having excellent Fish-Head the day before :DD
Only ever in Singapore. I bet no where else in the world will have separate return points for Halal and Non-Halal food plates even in a decade's time.
So mega open-air hawker centre or food court with people waiting by each table for seats hehehe, you have to stand beside a group of people and make them feel awkward and uncomfortable and then they'll leave and you can take the table ahaha XD
I wasn't mega hungry so we didn't order the BBQ chicken wings which we usually do, look at the line!
ALL THE YUMMY FOOOOOODS
I laugh everytime I see "MEGA FOODCOURT" in Brisbane. Oh Australia, you know nothing.
Sugarcane drink is a muuussssttttt, see they crush the canes in that rolling machine and put it through a sieve and viola !
3 drinks for SGD$5.
It'll be AUD$5 each if I was back in Briz.
Satay shop has upgraded and has these little buzzers now :D Apparently only this shop has business and the rest are all sad and ronery.
Everything I ate had Sambal in it. Sambal is a type of Malaysian Chilli, it's not super spicy and doesn't sting like the small red chilli, it has a really really nice taste. I'm sorry I can't really explain it to non-Asian readers ):
My favourite vegetable :D Sambal KangKong :DD I still can't cook it T_____T I need hallppp.
BBQ Stingray in Sambal!
Sambal Sotongs! ( Squids )
For my loverleyy Australian friends, do not hate the Stingrays, they're really yummy and their meat comes in shreds, very soft and tasty, like fish.
CHILLI CHILLI ERRDAYYY
LOOOK AT THE SQUIDS HONEY :D ( ugh even though I'm feeling very bloated I want to eat them all again naooo )
Beef Satays!
Stepmom ordered something called "Roti John" apparently some English man came to SG and ordered Bread with Eggs and got this and so this dish has been created! Kinda like French Toast I guess.
Had a nice stroll and icecream after dinner :D I went to buy the Atap Seed icecream. I again can't describe this taste, abit like coconut ? But it was really good, I had it that day I had to take my Oath and now again! It's yummmm (:
Atap Seed looks like this, sorta like Nata de Coco, which is the jelly you can put inside Bubble Tea, not the pearls but the Clear Jelly toppings if you've eaten them before. Wikipedia says this thing is called Nyca Fruticans, I really have no idea what fruit or thing this is but it tastes good in ice cream form (:
Saw someone wake-boarding, but this person didn't fall off XD it's always funny watching teehee
OH GOODNESS I've reached the end. I'm about to collapse. I hope you had a great weekend like I did !~
Goodnight everybawddeeeee.
