Hello again, alot has happened the past 3 weeks of Visual Communication, after just looking at my designs, I thought they looked crap and they were too messy, Jon also told us in a tute that a good logo scales well, so it looks good on a poster, a billboard or a business card, so if you scale my previous logo with the brain, it would be utter shit. So back to the sketch book,
I decided to simply the logo completely to just an R, keep note of the sketch on the right :o
Yeaaaa, I was so proud of this amazingly simple design. Backwards R because you're sorta going back in time, and a tick because it's a positive invention, like positive outcomes from this and its so simple it will scale well and it's just one color. I felt very happy until I went to class for the trial presentation and Jon said he couldn't see the R if I didn't mention it...
My heart literally dropped out at that moment and someone in class mentioned they liked that sketch in the right of the picture because of its symmetry. Sooo .. I went and did some research about Gestalt's Principles of Symmetry and Closure and final logo was this
Doesn't it look awesome! XD Okay it's like that because, the two halves represent the right and left brain. The Right brain stores all your memories and experiences you've have, whilst the left brain is a temporary memory place. Once you learn something new, it will replace the memory there with new information. Cool? :D and so the Right R is larger than the left one because the left one constantly needs to change and has a "limit" to storage.
What about the device? It was completely changed to be a helmet for the family, instead of medical purposes, so everyone can use it now! :DD and it will be cheap!
Design inspiration were from Daft Punk and Halo
and drawing it into illustrator :o
oooh so sci-fi-ish :D
and the hardest part so far for me is the advertisement ): So I wanted a vintage logo like this, and my device has to do with memory and some sort of time-travel so it will be black-white style.
Got help from Irene with that sketch above, and below is my marvelous attempt at photoshop for the first time. loool ._.
Now what's left is the packaging of the product and the instruction manual booklet thingy and I'll be done with this course !! It's been giving me a huge headache! ):x
